54 Stockade Street
This site is directly opposite the northern point of Canadian State Forest, and as such is of interest.
DEVELOPMENT NUMBER: PLP/2011/798
DEVELOPER: TGM Pty Ltd
SITE: 54 Stockade Street & 815 York Street
APPLICATION: Subdivide the land into seven lots
Residents discussing this development are of a mind that the block sizes seem big enough. However the two major concerns are lack of protection from further subdivision, and the protection of the extensive native vegetation on the block.
Objections have been highlighting these two major issues and the consequences of development in this area, such as increased lighting, traffic, kerbing, channeling and concreting. A mediation meeting is currently being arranged for January 2012, however to be notified about it, or to take part in the mediation you need to contact council directly and lodge an objection in writing (this can be withdrawn if you consider the developers are doing the right thing).
All residents are encouraged to view the plans at the Phoenix Building by requesting the file on PLP/2011/798, and making up your own mind.
I can’t make Thursdays moderation unfortunately. I was wondering however what the blue lines on the corner of the road at York and Stockade Street were there for? Does anyway know-is it related to the block in question?
Mediation meeting set for 2nd February at 5.30pm
That is a great consideration, there needs to be restrictions to the number of dwellings on each of the parcels of land, I assumed there would be 1,but some one could put a couple of town houses on them!. I have not heard of a mediation date as yet for this property.
We too saw an Echidna crossing the road from this property across Stockade St!
a little comment on the block sizes, even if they do seem big enough – in Mt Clear a development included two quite large size blocks as well as smaller ones. It looked reasonable – until several units were crammed on the larger blocks …
Saw the largest echidna I have ever seen crossing Stockade Street from this block last week. Obviously needs protection!!!
Hard to believe that these developers are so greedy & insensitive to locals. Is money really worth throwing away your reputation? Craming so many in one area, destroying the local fringe atmosphere, what are they thinking?
This was such a semi-rural area, I’m devastated, as are many with this develpment.
I guess we’d better watch the Forest next.
