Crossing Borders
As we know its not just about planning for housing, it’s about planning for living. The Crossing Borders Tracks and Trails Project is a joint initiative of Hepburn Shire Council, Ballarat City Council, Macedon Ranges Shire Council, Central Goldfields Shire Council, Department of Planning and Community Development and Department of Transport.
Tracks and trails are important community assets that offer a range of physical activity opportunities, with a strong focus on recreational walking, bushwalking, running, cycling and mountain bike riding.
The purpose of the project is to investigate proposals for the establishment or enhancement of four key tracks and trails projects, specifically the development of two new iconic pathways and the detailed planning of two mountain bike / walking trail projects, specifically:
- Cobb and Co Trail from Maryborough to Ballarat (iconic trail, mainly on-road trail linking Maryborough, Talbot, Creswick, Clunes and Ballarat),
- Daylesford to Macedon Ranges Rail Trail (iconic rail trail),
- Black Hill Trails (mountain bike trails), and
- Creswick Trails Initiative (mixture of walking, cycling and mountain bike trails).
Please complete the survey by clicking on the below link. The survey should take around 10 minutes to complete and will be used to help shape future planning and priorities for the proposed trails. Please also feel free to forward the link for the survey to your networks.

The Community Survey is designed to capture information regarding usage, infrastructure needs, opportunities for trail linkages and connections, tourism benefits and ideas for consideration in trail planning and development. The survey is open until Friday the 9th of November.
Just filled in the survey – doesn’t take long. It is nice to be consulted.
