Developer Discretion #3
Developers as we know are tending to lack discretion in the East. However council officers have apparently passed this one! Feeling sorry for the new residents on this one! Electricity pole DIRECTLY in front of the driveway.
This pic is taken at an angle, the post is really right in front! It’s okay though, developers have popped a bollard to protect… protect something, just not protect pedestrians!
You’ll note that somehow the council have allowed the residents to use a reverse point built on public land. Unfortunately the residents are using it a car-park, so other residents are forced outward, to walk on the road!
You’ll also note that this development has no room for cars to park completely OFF the nature strip, this is the clearest indication we have that this is over-development, if the residents and their vehicle DON’T FIT.

The cost of moving the lamp post will now be put on the ratepayer. I believe this could be something like $25,000 plus, correct me if I am wrong. Also, I hope these tenants are getting very cheap rent!
This is outrageous. Did council really allow that concrete pad or has it just ‘fallen’ there. How long before everyone wants one, end of nature strips? What an unbelievable sight.
AND the setback guidelines have been breached. This dwelling was placed more forward than existing neighbouring properties which is not permitted under the building guidelines. It is on a roundabout of a road which has been touted as an alternate route to Ballarat University and Geelong. This development was approved at the same time as houses were being removed from a roundabout on Main Road Mt Clear. The parking pad where the footpath should be further reduces visibility on the roundabout. Where are the footpaths to the bus stop? Who benefited from this development? Certainly not Beautiful Ballarat East.
Bad architecture all the way, these units are also quite ugly , only an investor would buy them, and did.
