To Protect AND Enhance

Details of a permit currently being applied for to vary tree protection.

 

This will not be considered by the City Planning Department until March 12th 2013. The “Detailed View ” on the eServices site are not very detailed.

PROPOSAL: Vary tree protection restrictions on Lots 5, 6 and 10 of PS637559R

Do you remember the ‘tree hassle’ last year. Developers in Stockade Street took down trees that were protected without a permit. It seems now they want to remove the protection for the trees they took down.. (*wallpaper music playing now)

Do you get it? Difficult to fathom isn’t it. Backwards planning. Reverse removal. This developer need to be brought to task. They did receive a very small fine for the removal of the protected trees without a permit.

So whats happening here? Do they intend to build on the land where the tree were? Have they already? Your questions can be answered by calling the Counil Planning Department.

PLEASE GO AND HAVE A LOOK AT COUNCIL AND ASK THEM HOW TO OBJECT, AND WHAT WE CAN ASK THE DEVELOPER TO GIVE OUR AREA IN RETURN…

It seems to us that our city’s policies state to “protect and enhance”. We live for the day developers apply to vary conditions before they do work, to plant more, reduce housing envelopes, reducing lighting – still waiting.

We expect our council to support the enhancement as much as the protection… How can we support them to do that?
